50km for Bernie

In memory of my mother-in-law Bernie Turner I will be running the Peak Skyline 50km ultra marathon starting in Buxton.
Bernie sadly lost her battle with Pancreatic Cancer at the young age of 59 after 18 months of treatment. She underwent the Whipple's procedure before receiving 6 months of chemotherapy. Only 4 months after finishing her chemotherapy Bernie was readmitted to hospital with recurrence of the cancer that was causing a gastric blockage. Bernie sadly passed away 7 weeks after being readmitted.
I'm running to raise awareness to support the research into this terrible illness which has a typically terrible prognosis. Despite advancements in so many areas of cancer research, pancreatic cancer still remains incredibly difficult to treat and all funds really will help make a difference to future patients.
The race covers 50km and incorporates 2000m of elevation gain (roughly equivalent to climbing Snowdon twice) and has a cut off time of 8 hours to complete the whole route.
The route includes climbs over Soloman's Temple, Axe Edge, Ramshaw Rocks, The Roaches, Hen Cloud, Shutlingsloe and Shining Tor.
If you'd like to know more about the event see here https://www.peakskyline.co.uk/
I'll be completing the event in support of Pancreatic Cancer UK to support the invaluable work they do towards improving the care for others who have been diagnosed.
Please give generously if you can and help support others dealing with this awful cancer.
Thank you
Matt
