Patrick Scully

My meaning simply is, that whatever I have tried to do in life,I have tried with all of my heart to do well. D Copperfield Charles Dickens
"Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry"
Old Testament in Ecclesiastes 8:15
Patrick - our Dad, Grandad, Husband, Brother, Uncle, Godfather & Friend - as all who knew him will pay testament to ,he loved nothing more than good wine , good food and to be with good company. Many of you will have shared a good wine - a good red - and his own very good company. And to that he would raise a good glass of red, and say a heartfelt Cheers to you all!
Dad didn't know that he was suffering from pancreatic cancer. None of us did.
As we have since learnt, the symptoms of pancreatic cancer can be hard to spot.
The symptoms can be quite vague, and may come and go to begin with. Acid reflux or indigestion , which Dad had been suffering from throughout the Lockdown, are two such symptoms which can easily be dismissed as something less serious.
More than half of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer will die within 3 months.
1 in 4 people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer survive their disease for one year or more. The cancer, due to its vague symptoms, is often detected at a late stage.
So with this Memory Tribute we hope to raise money to help with research into pancreatic cancer and the early diagnosis of the disease.
Pancreatic Cancer UK needs bold investment and research to deliver a step change for those already diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and for future early diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
I hope you find the time to take a look at the Pancreatic Cancer UK website , to learn more about the cancer, and to look at the great work that they are doing.
And if you do choose to donate, we thank you all so much.
And we hope that future research will afford those people and their families living with a pancreatic cancer diagnosis, a more positive looking future, and a longer one.
