Pat was diagnosed with stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer in February 2023. Although we knew at this point that there was no cure, Pat was determined not to give up and in April began palliative chemotherapy. In August we were given the devastating news that the cancer had spread to all surrounding organs. Still determined to keep fighting against the odds, Pat agreed to another, more intensive round of Chemotherapy that was due to begin on Monday 9th October. Sadly, Pat’s health deteriorated during the week prior, she was admitted to hospital on Friday 6th October and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on 13th October. From a 3 to 6 month prognosis in February, I can say no more about how strong this lady was. Unfortunately, the battle with pancreatic cancer could not be won but she showed nothing but fight and determination right until the bitter end and we couldn’t be more proud.

Please help us to get the funding this silent killer needs. It is the least funded cancer yet the deadliest. More research needs to be done and more funding needs to be in place to provide the essential medication needed (Creon) which unfortunately, seems to be in short supply.

Pat was an amazing wife to Denis, a devoted mother to Jeanette and Barry, a doting Grandma to Victoria, Georgia, Marcie and Christopher, loving sister of Sheila and good friend and neighbour to many.

It is my hope that one day Pancreatic Cancer will get the recognition and funding it needs and deserves.
