On the 26th September 2019, our world changed in ways we never would have imagined:

“Mum has cancer”

It sounded so foreign every time we said it out loud

Were we lucky to know?

To have a warning?

A reminder about the one fact that we all know is guaranteed

That we can’t all be here forever.

Surely this doesn’t happen to us, it happens to other people, right? Wrong ……………….

The statistics are that one in two of us will get cancer in some shape or form.

Now, we had to deal with the devastating blow that our mum, loving wife and Nana had pancreatic cancer.

Pancreatic cancer takes no prisoners and from the outset the prognosis was bleak, but with the most loving, courageous and brave husband, our Dad, a light shone at the end of our tunnel.

November 2019, Mum was enrolled on a clinical trial, her first scan came, and on Christmas eve we had the greatest gift, the chemo was working.

2020 rolled in, along with a worldwide pandemic, but mum was still kept on her clinical trial with great results. Come summer, we had sad news and the chemo had stopped working, but not to be undeterred, she was enrolled on a new regime.

Sadly, on the 30th October 2020, we had the devastating news that the chemo was not working and there was no more that could be done……….. she was given weeks to live.

On the 13th January 2021, after a courageous fight and exceeding the timelines that were given, our mum, wife and Nana passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family as she wished for.

We desperately wanted you around for much longer, but it wasn’t meant to be, you were needed elsewhere, fly high alongside the beautiful angels that you have now become xxxxxx
