Mike was a gentle giant. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he had a wicked sense of humour and a kind heart.

8 weeks and 2 days.

8 weeks from walking into the hospital and hearing those words....cancer.... spread.... nothing to be done....

8 weeks of emotional turmoil and life thrown into a tailspin.

8 weeks because even though Mike did everything you were meant to do, seeing the doctor when needed and a yearly "mot", pancreatic cancer is so hard to detect that it slipped through the cracks.

We have chosen to donate to this charity because pancreatic cancer survival rates haven't changed over the last 50 years, and it's one of the worst survival rates of all cancers. This is in part due to the incredibly late diagnosis, most people not being diagnosed until stage IV. More needs to be done to change that, and help early detection.

If there's any part we can play to try and change this tragedy into something positive, Mike would have wanted that. So that other people can have more time. Longer than 8 weeks and 2 days.
