Michael Anthony Winkley 'Mike', loving husband, brother & brother-in-law and Michael Alway 'Mickey', partner and soulmate to Linda.
On 30th January 2021, we lost our very special younger brother Mike Winkley at the age of 65 to this horrendous disease. Following his devastating diagnosis in February 2018, he underwent whipple procedure in April 2018 which extended his life. He was very brave throughout and never complained, he just got on with his life the best way he could and was determined to make the most of every minute and we, his sisters, Christine, Norma & Linda, his wife Jan and brother-in-law Steve and all the family, will miss him terribly for the rest of our lives. He was the most helpful, generous and kind person you could wish to meet and whatever we can do to help early diagnosis of this disease and prevent other families losing their loved ones prematurely, we will.

This is the second time we have lost someone very precious; on 23rd May 2018, our sister Linda suffered the loss of her partner and soulmate of many years Mickey Alway at the age of 66 to this very same cruel disease. Two special men, both of whom were much loved, fun to be with and did not deserve to leave this life in the way they did, they both had so much more to live for and leave a gaping hole in all our lives.

Donating to Pancreatic Cancer UK, we feel, is the best way to highlight the urgency of detecting this vicious cancer in its very early stages, in order to give everyone diagnosed a fighting chance of living an active life for many years. To this end, we donate on our Together in Memory page every birthday, anniversary & Christmas time to remember the two special members of our family taken from us much too soon. Every little helps in the hope that one day soon a cure can be found, or at least treatment that will enable many more years of a good quality of life!
