At the heart of the housing team, June was well known, well respected and well loved throughout Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.

Juney worked for Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council and the Housing Trust from the 1st April1988 until her retirement aged 71 on the 31st December 2016. She started at the Woodhall Housing Office as the receptionist before moving to Bridge Road East, working as a Housing Support Officer and then moved to Campus East.

She was at the heart of the Housing Team, and had lots of connections and friendships across the Council. A colleague remembers her as a rock when she first started working for the council, many of us feel the same.

Always smiling, always able and willing to help and a font of knowledge, she was well respected by both staff and tenants

She loved her family, loved Arsenal and loved her garden. We loved her cheerfulness, her knowledge of all things Welwyn Garden City and her funky hair cuts.

It was with great sadness that we learnt June would not have the long retirement with her husband, Doug, that she expected.

We, her colleagues, would like to raise funds for research into Pancreatic cancer in her name.
