John Wood

A gentle giant with a big heart
John was the most amazing man, husband, dad and grandad. He held a special place in many people’s hearts for his kind and generous nature and his love for music, nature and gardening. He always had a twinkle in his eye and story to tell. We have all been blessed to have him as part of our lives.
Dad’s illness began with odd ‘niggles’ and pains in his stomach that seemed to move around. Diverticulitis or gall stones seemed to be potential causes but extreme tiredness and jaundice led to a scan which found a large cancerous mass on his pancreas. Unfortunately it was too late for any treatment for Dad and he came home to receive palliative care. The Drs said he had weeks to live but he was determined to make it to Mum’s birthday and Christmas, which he did. He sadly passed away on the 29th December surrounded by us all.
Please, please help by donating so that research into early diagnosis of this devastatingly silent, cruel and painful cancer can become a reality.
