If you could only use 3 words to describe mum, they would be 'strong, determined and resilient'. A true inspiration to all.
Mum fought a valiant battle with Pancreatic Cancer, but sadly succumbed to the illness on 18th January 2023. She was diagnosed following persistent indigestion and new jaundice. Undergoing Whipples surgery in June 2021. She recovered well from surgery and went on to have 9 rounds of folfrinox. Sadly, the cancer was too aggressive and took hold of her body in June 2022. She remained strong, starting palliative chemo until November when further testing showed it was ineffective. We enjoyed our last Christmas together as a family before we were forced to say our final goodbyes on 18th January 2023. Mum was the strongest person I know; nobody could have fought harder just to carry on living every day.
Her life was taken too soon, but she made sure to live every second of it. Cramming as much in to her 55 years as she possibly could. Even the diagnosis was not getting in the way of her and her holidays. Always at her happiest when she was laid with the sun on her face, my only hope is that she is somewhere with infinite sunshine and warmth now.
