Andrew Thomas

Andrew was a truly caring person. For family, friends & all he met, his character, charm, humour and smile will never be forgotten.
Andrew ('Andy' to many) loved life and was proud of his own story. From his Welsh roots in Aberfan, his service in the Royal Navy, through to all the contributions he made in his wider working life in various roles, especially in his many years at the Crown Estate.
Throughout his life he maintained valued friendships with all his family and so many of the people he met along the way. Simply meeting up with people always brought him great joy.
He had a great knowledge of history including a keen interest in genealogy. He was a fountain of knowledge on many subjects in fact and was always happy to share this with people he met ... but what he always really loved was simply to chat.
Not long after retirement Andrew was sadly diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. Despite this he continued to remain upbeat and to enjoy life as fully as he could.
We know that Andrew will be remembered fondly and he would love you all to wear your broadest smile when thinking of him.
Providing charitable support in his name via this page will help with the ongoing work required to deal with Pancreatic cancer. This includes supporting patients and also through funding key research.
